Thought of the day

The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly.

My article appears in NewMan Dec Issue

NewMan started in Singapore back then and expanded to Malaysia for nearly 6 years. I wouldn't say NewMan is the most popular magazine for men as it has different positioning than other magazines like international title FHM, Maxim, Men's Folio, newly released AUGUST.

New Man recognizes the male market segment whose priorities include family or marriage, career, home improvement and health. The magazine showcases pictures of beautiful sophisticated women, fashion, gadget tips as well as adventure, travel, car reviews, etc all lifestyle related. The magazine aims to fulfill the needs of the target demographic unlike tons of sexy revealing hot chicks pictures like FHM has.

And of course there are still plenty of room to improve and making it a fruitful magazine. I believe Richard will be playing that role well. Welcome on board dude after I left! ;)

Amazing LG Prada phone with a matching bluetooth watch!

In life some of the best things are the spontaneous joys that spring out of human curiosity and adventure.

I am amazed by the power of human invention and creation at technology where each day there is something new and shocking. Imagine how these technology inventions change our lifestyle regardless for better or worse.

In a world powered by technology, driven by bottom lines, and information-accessible world-wide, it's a wonder we're not all robots. The temptation to so fully digitize oneself is great. And the innovation will definitely impact our life. For enterprise who wants to survive, one needs to keep innovate and improve to sustain its business.

In fact, Prada has essentially conquered the world of fashion, and now they take on the world of cellular phones. The Prada has a full 3-inch touchscreen, with a slider QWERTY keyboard as well.

Other features include dual-band HSDPA, quad-band GSM, plus a full HTML browser. The user also has the option of listening to FM radio, and watching television with the TV out option. There is also a document viewer for whatever you want to read.

In other words, your phone has entertainment as well as being a phone. As far as memory is concerned, there is 60MB of internal memory, and the phone has a microSD slot.

All this, plus it comes with a matching watch. Not only will you be able to view incoming calls and texts on the watch, but it is stainless steel and genuine leather. You can also view the world time, but you have an alarm with stop and snooze. (Isn't this amazing?!!! I would really like to have one! Sadly only available in European countries like Italy, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands. The price is about 600 euros)

eArts Festival, Shanghai

From mid-October until mid-November, the ultra-flash city of Shanghai is morphed into a playground for the world's cutting-edge digital artists. It is the biggest digital event on the worldwide arts calendar.

Under the banner 'Urbanized Landscape' this year's festival sees more than 150 creatives at the vanguard of the electronic age transform parks, avenues, rivers and malls into interactive hubs for curious citizens.

Philip Dodd, an eArts organiser said: 'What the new digital technology allows us to do is reconfigure our ideas of space and geography and to find new ways of imagining cities.' And if it's time to redefine our ideas about the future cities of the world, there's no place more evidently willing to embrace the new than Shanghai.

Sharing - Life Is Wonderful

It takes a crane to build a crane
It takes two floors to make a story
It takes an egg to make a hen
It takes a hen to make an egg
There is no end to what I'm saying

It takes a thought to make a word
And it takes some words to make an action
And it takes some work to make it work
It takes some good to make it hurt
It takes some bad for satisfaction

Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la la life goes full circle
Ah la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la

It takes a night to make it dawn
And it takes a day to make you yawn brother
And it takes some old to make you young
It takes some cold to know the sun
It takes the one to have the other

And it takes no time to fall in love
But it takes you years to know what love is
And it takes some fears to make you trust
It takes some tears to make it rust
It takes the dust to HAVE it polished

Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la la la life goes full circle
Ah la la la la la la life is wonderful
Ah la la la la

It takes some silence to make sound
And it takes a loss before you found it
And it takes a road to go nowhere
It takes a toll to make you care
It takes a hole to MAKE a mountain

Singapore Oktoberfest

“Ein Prosit, ein Prosit
Der Gemütlichkeit
Ein Prosit, ein Prosit
Der Gemütlichkeit”

The lyrics above is from a traditional German drinking song that translates into “a toast, a toast, to happiness.”

And if beer is your preferred poison or way to happiness, there’s no better time to raise your mugs heartily because the Oktoberfest is in full swing in Singapore starting from 7-13 October.

This year, the Oktoberfest will take place at Paulaner Bräuhaus. Established in 1999, Paulaner Bräuhaus is located in a unique three-storey glass building at Time² @ Millenia Walk. Recently renovated, Paulaner Bräuhaus offers freshly-brewed on the premises German beer and traditional Bavarian cuisine.

Here, you can expect a truly authentic drinking and dining experience in a cosy and rustic setting reminiscent of microbreweries in Germany.

Excitingly, I am going to the launch tomorrow (to work as be told by my boss). So looking forward to see how it likes!
